YWCA Aurora Client Success Story

The Board of Directors of the Young Women’s Christian Association of Aurora (YWCA Aurora) retained the services of KEES and our sister company, Alford Executive Search, in the spring of 2015 to search for its next Executive Director, who would bring the long-awaited passion, experience and expertise necessary to re-envision and invigorate the organization’s presence and service to the Aurora community.

Early into the search, the Board additionally retained KEES Vice President Evette Simon to provide Interim Executive Leadership support to the organization and ensure continuity of operations. In this interim capacity, Evette worked closely with the staff and Board to prepare for the YWCA’s next leader.

The search resulted in the selection of Melissa Nigro as the YWCA’s Executive Director. Melissa joined the organization in September 2015 with a very aggressive list of goals to achieve during her first 60 days. Charged with assessing and engaging the Board, programmatic and HR best practices during the interim period, Evette’s work in these critical areas helped paved the way for Melissa to successfully achieve the goals established by the YWCA Board of Directors.

“The KEES and YWCA Aurora interim and search partnership was essential to preparing and acclimating me to this important role. Evette not only provided insight and guidance with the Board of Directors, she laid groundwork for our HR system to ensure compliance with labor standards, critical analysis for staff coaching, and drafted the HR manual.  Evette met with key community members to discuss developing future programs and to ensure the programs would fit the needs and mission of the YWCA. I appreciate every moment that the entire KEES team devoted to the YWCA and to me!”

This executive search and interim staffing partnership between the YWCA Aurora and Alford Executive Search/KEES is a prime example of a full-service and comprehensive approach to strategic staffing and leadership development, thereby strengthening the infrastructure and keeping the organization focused on its mission and impact in the community.
