Ken Nsimbi, Associate Vice President at KEES, brings over 20 years of experience and a robust national network in programs focused on youth and young adults. Based in Seattle, Ken has contributed his expertise to county and community organizations and currently serves in a specialized role with the Care and Closure team under the Office of the King County Executive. His prior roles include leadership and management positions with Best Starts for Kids—focused on dismantling the School-to-Prison Pipeline—Youth Programs Manager with the King County Housing Authority, where he supported over 2,000 young people in accessing quality afterschool programs, and the Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS).
Born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, Ken’s perspective as a first-generation immigrant fuels his advocacy for historically marginalized populations. He is deeply committed to advancing equity, promoting social justice, and ensuring the fair redistribution of power and resources. A champion of racial equity, Ken excels at fostering partnerships with community leaders to drive meaningful change.
Ken’s educational background includes studies in fine arts and human services, with a focus on special populations. Ken holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Human Services from the University of Phoenix and an Associate of Arts (AA) in Fine Arts from Seattle Central College. His community leadership roles are extensive and include serving on the Seattle Human Rights Commission, the Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (REDI) team at the King County Housing Authority, and the boards of New Horizons Ministries, World Relief Seattle, Boys and Girls Club of Bellevue and Washington Aerospace Scholars Foundation.
In his free time, Ken channels his creativity into serving his community, teaching African drumming, performing with his band, and enjoying time with family and friends.
