Below is a sample list of Specialty and Interim Staffing projects on which our team has recently partnered with clients. Please contact us to request more information on our Specialty and Interim Staffing services, or an SIS proposal.
CEO/ED
KEES has provided both part-time and full-time executive-level leadership, overseeing all areas of the organization including programming, operations, board relations, external relations, staff supervision, and development. We have also served as Interim leaders during CEO/ED searches we have conducted, making us even better equipped to support the newly hired leader in onboarding and specific projects.
CDO/VP of Development
KEES has served in a leadership Development role for several client partners in many different capacities. Here are just a few examples:
- During a CDO’s unplanned medical leave, KEES managed staff, projects and reporting so that there was minimal disruption.
- Provided comprehensive strategy and oversight to the development function, overseeing all activities for the year including operations, annual fund, special events, major gift and planned giving strategy. In particular, we helped the client obtain a gift ten times the originally discussed amount (due to the donor wanting a naming opportunity).
- Ensured that Annual Fund, Major and Planned Giving coverage was provided to a senior living community during a 6 month staff vacancy.
- A client partner had experienced multiple short-term hires for the top development role. KEES assessed the situation and helped lay the groundwork for the next hire to become successful by putting tools and best practices in place, designing a development plan and calendar, etc.
Annual Fund
As part of a recent Annual Fund project, KEES reviewed 40,000 entries from 16 different sources to identify the top 1800 donors for a direct mail appeal. The appeal raised 600%+ more than the previous year’s appeal, which was managed solely by the organization.
An additional Annual Fund project increased funds raised by 338% over the previous year’s client-run campaign.
Grant Writer/Grants Management
Our team knows firsthand that grant writing is a comprehensive and complicated process involving many moving parts, including a good understanding of what the funds will be used for and how to translate that need to match organizational priorities. We have served as Interim grant writers, authoring several grants and reports and designing a grants and reporting calendar for the year.
Human Resources
KEES has provided interim Human Resources support and leadership to multiple client partners. Here are just a few of the ways we have augmented a client’s HR team:
- Conducted HR department assessment to help identify gaps in leadership.
- Provided leadership for the HR department during a staff vacancy.
- Prepared for large scale system conversions.
- Ensured all personnel records were legally compliant with local, state and federal laws and regulations.
- Performed a payroll assessment to improve accuracy, efficiency and effectiveness.
- Conducted a compensation analysis to ensure CEO salaries were in line with the marketplace.
Database Administration
A good database or Development Operations person is tough to find. As gifts come in, they need to be properly recorded, and thank you letters and reports to leadership generated.
- KEES served in a database administrator role for a 3 month period during a staff vacancy.
- KEES helped assemble data from over 10 data sources to synthesize and streamline for a year-end appeal. The work, including Annual Fund support (see below), helped the client achieve a 600% increased return.
- KEES helped train staff on best practices for data entry, development record keeping and coding, and reporting.
VP of Programs
We know the need for strong, consistent leadership in area of direct services. One of our KEES consultants served as both the Director of Residential and Director of Vocational Services, providing strong leadership to staff to ensure effective and efficient services continued to those served by the organization. Because of the success of the interim appointment as Director of Residential Services, the KEES consultant was asked to also provide similar leadership in the role of Director of Vocational Services. The KEES consultant provided this interim support for 7 months and also assisted in the transition of the newly hired permanent directors.
Board Development
KEES has successful strategies to make board recruitment an exciting, efficient, and effective endeavor for starting, reinvigorating, or repairing a board. We have assisted with many aspects of the board recruitment process, including:
- Development strategy
- Orientation materials
- Fundraising guidance
- Board member evaluation
